I just had open heart surgery for the second time in my life, I'm only 20 (21 tomorrow) and my first open heart surgery was in 23. Both were valve replacements. The one in 2003 was my mitral valve replaced, and this one was my aorta being replaced. Both are metal valves.
Boy, I know what that's like. I had a valve replaced back in '06, when I was 19. The stay in the hospital was none too fun, but I'll have to do it again in 10-15 years since they used an organic replacement.
