I was never much into anime, but I was indeed a huge fan of Sailormoon when I was younger.

I watched the American versions at first, but eventually found the Japanese version to be so much better-I love how the entire thing is more about gays and lesbians trying to pick each other up rather then fighting evil lol.
And yes, being a fan of such has left me with too much Sailormoon paraphernalia lol!
But story wise, I really loved Hotaru-she was such a neat character. Anyways, discuss?

Yay for the Sailor Moon Fan Thread!:D I got into it when Cartoon Network was airing it on Toonami in the afternoons. Even after all these years, I still love this show. And you're right, there was more romance and comedy than fighting evil. I never own a lot of Sailor Moon things, just the cards, some stickers, a gift bag, the two cat plushies, and a Tuxedo Mask keychain. I did have the dolls at one point but... They were returned to the store by my folks for a reason I can't remember...
Favorite Heros of the show: Sailor Moon (she reminds me of myself :D) and Tuxedo Mask, though I still don't get why she would want a guy who calls her Meatball Head... Meh, oh well

Favorite Villians: Wicked Lady, just for the way she dressed and I liked the storyline she was in though Rini was bleh... And I thought Prince Diamond and Sapphire were awesome. They had a contrasting style to them.

I was into Sailormoon when I was in middle school. It showed up on that USA channel right after Dragonball and I would watch the two obsessively. Over the time, though, I came across MUCH better anime on the Sci-Fi channel, back when they used to show anime on Saturday's. I believe it was called "Saturday Anime," where they'd show Green Legend Ran, Vampire Hunter D, Legend of Kashan (sp?), Akira (of course), and all sorts of other great anime films.

    I miss those days...

Currently, I don't watch anime at all

Sailor Mercury for the win. Shy girls = Hawtness. Sailor Jupiter ftw because she's in green, and green pwns on women. And Sailor Neptune and Uranus for their lesbianism! Woot!

In the Japanese version, Darian (Called Mamoru Chan.) always called Serena ''Dumpling Head''.

Oh yeah, villains-my favourite of all was Nephrite. I don't know, all that long hair, tough outside but wussy inside concept was great!

Except that he's like, 30 and he's dating a 13 year old girl-my God Japanese folks are nuts.

I own like 300 stickers, countless posters, dolls and figurines, a pillow, a backpack and a purse lol. I don't use those anymore, but...:D
I also have all the manga (In French.) and some art books. Took like, five years to get all that shit lol!

And yeah Liz I agree-Darklady was a neat villain. And, as you say, Reenie was damn bleh-and annoying. I hated her so much lol, and how she always like, er, tried to steal Darian away from Serena?

Yeah, there are way better anime then this, but it always kind of stuck with me as a first anime, as well as DBZ, which I didn't get into that much. Still, Vegita owns. :D

I saw a few of the Sailormoon films, Queen of Ice or something, and another. Got them at some anime convention! :D

Some time ago, there was a frighteningly great increase of male Sailormoon fans, which today, actually thwarts the female audience. Probably for reasons as mentioned by Nazo. :p

But I really liked Michelle, (Sailor Neptune, also known as Michiru, I believe.) she was like this improved version of Ami lol. She played the violin and juggled a lemon on it at the same time-how brilliant can you get lol!

In any case, Nazo and Marcius-more power to male Sailormoon fans! You guys rule. :)

Oh, and one of those random invoked monsters that pops up every episode had my last name! It was kind of cool, until I saw that it was a...mutated vacuum cleaner.

Oh, and fun fact-Naoko Takeuchi, the creator of Sailormoon, drinks yellow-jacket juice! Ew.

    Lol Japanese people.

I used to watch this along time ago, don't remember much of anything about it though, story wise or character wise for the most part, I remember it was good though. I was never much into anime, getting slightly more into now but eh.

Got to love the Japanese. I heard that htey let five year old kids watch porn... I was like "What?!"

I also liked how they claimed Saturn was all powerful and could destroy the world with like three words. If that was the case, she should have had her own show. Besides, what were the words she could say and destroy the world?
  9. Nazo Moderator

Have you even SEEN an asian porn...

    If not, DON'T!
  10. The Liztress Poison Pink

    I haven't seen one... I didn't want to either...

    A wise decision.

And here I was under the impression that "Sailor Moon fan" was a clever oxymoron.
  13. Reasonable Addition Wrong Answer

I don't know what Saturn's destruction words were. I know though, that when turning INTO Sailor Saturn, she was possessed by an entity, Pharaoh 19 or something, I kind of forget, but when she's Hotartu, she's normal again.

What I wonder is, after the Sailor scouts defeat Pharaoh 19, does she still keep her powers? She still has the Glaive of Silence, so I would assume so...In the manga it was a lot different then the show.

Still, she has to be the most powerful one, aside from Sailor Pluto who controls time lol!

So umm yeah, definitely easy to see that I'm a huge Sailor Moon fan if you go through my fanart, as that's all I would do when I was younger. It was the first Anime I watched, and has stayed in my heart over all the Fushigi Yuugi's and Ouran High School Host Clubs and Fruits Baskets in Anime. xD I do have many many many many items, not to mention the fact that on my door at home is a Sailor Moon poster. :] I do have to say that I've watched both the dubbed and subbed versions, and I just love the dubbed. It's what I grew up on, it's what I'm used to. I do love the Japanese version, and I have every manga that came out (prized possession is the fact that I have the original comic books).

My all-time favorite character is Usaig/Serena/Sailor Moon. Don't ask me why, I have no clue. I guess I can relate because I have such a bigggg heart, and Usagi definitely has a bigggg heart. :]

Btw, I HATE REENY. WITH A PASSION. My god, eww. The fact that she wanted to kiss Darien (watch SuperS if you don't know what I'm talking about) and has a crush on him, makes me hate her even more. HE'S HER FUTURE DAD. D<

An Electra Complex, then. Not all that surprising actually, when you consider all the other, rather shocking sexual innuendo found in the Japanese Sailormoon...
  16. The Liztress Poison Pink

In the English version, Pharaoh 19 is called Mistress 9. It's been a little while since I watched any episodes from that part of the show. I remember reading somewhere, that due to the blantant lesbianism in Sailor Moon Stars, they were never aired over here.
  17. Rainbow Deluxe Duchess of All Things Pretty and Music

Actually, the reasoning that the Sailor Stars series was never aired over here is because of the fact that the Sailor Stars (the real ones, not the series) transformed into women and America didn't know how it's viewers would take that.
  18. The Liztress Poison Pink

Silly people... Thinking we couldn't handle that... Didn't matter to me. I prefer the Japanese version over English any day.
  19. Nazo Moderator

This is America people. We can't "handle" things. That's why I hate English dubbed anime. Cuts and edits.
  20. The Liztress Poison Pink

Yup yup... It's lame how they will edit a cartoon but leave a good majority of horror and action flicks with all the bloodshed and violence in it. It's like "Oh! We can't have a man transforming into a woman on that season of Sailor Moon but hey, did you see the movie where a guy got pregnant? Or how about that one movie where the chick masterbates with a cross? That movie is a classic horror flick!"

    >.> I'm sure that people would point out better parts of The Exorist than the masterbating part but just saying...
